This has been a proud week for our school – as we have gained the UNICEF (silver level) Rights Respecting Schools Award!

We are pleased to announce that we are now an official UNICEF Rights Aware School!

Thank you to the 24 children from years 1-6 who spoke to our
assessor with such passion and knowledge of their rights and the
rights of other children in the world! For more information about this award, please click on the link below:

The assessor went into some KS2 classrooms and our children were
buzzing with the knowledge of children’s rights. Their knowledge and understanding was further evidenced by our school class charter’s, our playground charter, our whole school ‘Rights Respecting’ assemblies, the extensive PSHCE / RE / computing e-safety and RRSA teaching and learning being undertaken by teachers and the valuable contribution made by our school parliament!

One of the special
things our assessor noted about our children was that not
only did they have a knowledge about children’s rights in different
countries, but they were also very much aware of how some homeless people in our local area do not have their right to a home, a safe place to live, adequate food and a decent standard of living respected – a fact which is evidenced by our increasing support for our local food bank over recent months!

Thankyou to all our wonderful staff who helped us attain this award for our school – we are all very excited by this news as we strive to become an outstanding school!
