In maths this week, Year 1 Holly have been learning about halving and quartering. We explored these mathematical concepts in a fun and practical way – by halving and then quartering some slices of bread!
We followed instructions such as:
1. Put butter on 1/4 of the bread.
2. Put jam on 2/4 of the bread (Rebecca noticed that this fraction was exactly the same (equivalent) as a half!)
We then answered questions such as: How much of the bread has jam on? What fraction of the bread has nothing on?
