As we are studying World War 2 as our topic this term, Year 6 have decided to ‘Dig for Victory’ and this week we planted some potatoes in our school planter boxes.

On Thursday 23rd February 2018 we began to prepare our potatoes for growth by leaving them in the classroom next to a light window – so that the shoots would start to grow and harden. This Thursday (6th March), we prepared our planter boxes for our potatoes by adding compost to them – we then placed our potatoes into the compost, covering them over and patting the compost down to ensure coverage and depth.

Now all we have to do is wait to dig them up!
