FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER
Family Support Worker
Miss Little is our Family Support worker.
Hello, my name is Miss Little and I am the Family Support Worker here at Winlaton West Lane. I have been working at West Lane since 2012 and I adore the children and families in the school. I was a team leader and teaching assistant for 4 years in nursery and also had 1 year in year 3. Prior to my job at West Lane I have worked in American summer camps, other schools within Gateshead and also in a private nursery setting too. I have a real passion to work with both children and their families and help to make a positive difference within the community. In 2016 I graduated with a BA (Hons) Degree in Education and Society and in January 2017 I took on this role.
What is a Family Support Worker?
A Family Support Worker is here to support children and their families during their primary school life. We want to ensure the best start in life and provide families with the support they need or guidance to further support if needed. Together we can ensure we close the gap between home and school and work alongside each other with the child at the centre.
Some of the ways I can support you…
- Attendance concerns
- Early intervention with friendships or behaviour issues.
- Support with referrals and applications
- Guidance about other support agencies
- Medical/ health concerns
- Facilitating family learning
- Support in transitions to secondary school
- Nurture groups for children
- Elklan language support for children
- Listening ear!
