Mrs Traynor and Miss Sergison are our Year 2 teachers, and they are supported by Miss Westgarth and Mrs Herworth. Mrs Traynor teaches Year 2 Elder and Miss Sergison teaches Year 2 Poplar.

This week, as part of our topic (where we are learning about The Great Fire of London), Year 2 went on a fabulous, ‘smoking hot!’ trip to St Mary’s heritage Centre, Gateshead and the Newcastle / Gateshead Quayside. Wow! What a busy last week of term Year 2 have had! We have had SO much fun at our Xmas party, playing Xmas party games, cutting and painting some salt dough Xmas tree decorations, designing our Xmas cards and having our ‘rock / pop star’ themed photographs taken for our Xmas calendars! In their Autumn term after-school ‘Art and Craft Club’ with Mrs Herworth, our key stage 1 children have had great fun making some beautiful bonfire and Xmas themed crafts!read more
This week, pupils from Years 1,2,3,4 and 6 were treated to a an afternoon of ‘music through the decades’ from the fabulous J. Gowland and Co!read more
On Monday this week, Mrs Nugent led KS1 and KS2 in two ‘Rights Respecting School’ assemblies – where the theme of ‘difference’ was considered to recognise the importance of celebrating the wonderful diversity within our school, families and community.read more
This week in Year 2, we have been investigating the properties of materials – looking at which materials are more / less waterproof. We had great fun carrying out our scientific waterproofing experiment…read more
This week in Year 2, we have been developing our VIPERS reading skills, focusing on inference. We have been learning how to use different ‘clues’ found in the pictures and words / text of books we read, to ‘work out’ what a character might be feeling, alongside using a drama technique called ‘freeze framing’ to demonstrate how facial expressions / body language can communicate negative / positive emotions to a reader (e.g. joy, boredom, tiredness, anger etc).read more

Wow! Our Key Stage 1 children had an amazing time this afternoon, at their end of half-term ‘Halloween themed’ disco! There were some VERY strange costumes dancing to some spooky tunes – as you can see from our photo gallery slideshow!read more
As part of our whole school ‘Art Week’ initiative led by Mrs Young, this week all of our children have had great fun creating a range of ‘artistic masterpieces’ to showcase to parents at our school Art Exhibition on Wednesday 1st November 2017!read more
